Clinics
We run a range of clinics here at Fairbrook and at Wellswood House. For an
appointment or further details, please call Fairbrook Medical Centre on 020 8953
7666.
Antenatal
Both Barnet and Watford General midwives hold clinics at the practice.
If you become pregnant, you will be given a 'booking appointment' at which the
midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks.
You will then be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice
or at the hospital, or both.
Child Health and Immunisations
All new babies need a six-week check with a doctor before having their first immunisations at eight weeks. A six-week check appointment can be made via our reception. Further checks are organised via the health visitors. Please get your baby weighed and measured at the Becc Centre just before your baby's six-week check with us. The health visitors are at the Becc Centre on a Tuesday between 9.30am-12 noon and 1.00 – 2.30pm; just drop in. Please take your child’s red book with you.
New mums, please remember you also need a separate six-week check with a doctor.
Immunisation clinics are run by our practice nurses on a Wednesday 2.00 – 3.45pm. They are on a 'first come first served' basis. Child Health sends out a note saying when the immunisation is due and what date to come to the surgery.
Minor Surgery
Minor operations can be performed here at the practice in many cases, as long as the PCT approves. Please
discuss this with your doctor who can then arrange for you to be given an appointment.
Diabetes
Led by Dr Howe, Dr Aman and Dr Page, these clinics offer advice and general health
check-ups to patients diagnosed with diabetes.
Patients usually see the doctor, a dietician and a healthcare assistant to discuss any concerns
they have.
Asthma
Asthma sufferers can make an appointment in this clinic to gain advice and
support from our nurse who specialises in asthma care.
Stopping Smoking
This clinic gives advice and support to patients trying to give up smoking.
Well Woman Clinics
Appointments are available for cervical smears, postnatal advice and contraception.
Contact reception for more details.
Wound Care
This clinic is for those patients who have acute and chronic wounds that need
careful management.
Travel Clinics
Appointments are available for patients requiring travel advice, information
and immunisations for countries requiring vaccination programmes.
Non-NHS Treatment (Fees Payable)
A full list of current charges is available in the practice. We charge fees in accordance with BMA guidelines for all work not covered by the NHS. This includes private certificates, holiday cancellation forms and medical reports for insurance companies, private medicals and certain travel vaccinations. Please ask at reception if you require the doctor to undertake any such work on your behalf.
