How Do I....
Obtain A Repeat Prescription?
Repeat prescriptions usually take 48 hours to be processed although some may take up to 72 hours. We regret we cannot take repeat medication requests by phone. If you
need regular repeat medication and have had this approved by the doctor, you
can ask for a repeat prescription in one of the following ways:
• By ticking the items required on your printed repeat request slip and
leaving it at Wellswood House reception. It is helpful for us if you can also
write on the slip how many items you are requesting and sign it.
• If you have mislaid this printed slip you can fill out carefully one
of the handwritten request forms available at Wellswood House reception.
• You can collect your repeat prescriptions in person at Wellswood House reception. Alternatively, if you write enclosing a stamped addressed envelope we will post it back to you.
Note also that some local chemists provide colection and delivery.
Please
contact the chemist of your choice to arrange for this to happen.
PLEASE ALLOW AT LEAST 48 HOURS (TWO WORKING DAYS) FOR PROCESSING. DON’T RUN OUT!!
Medication Reviews
Please note that your medication must be reviewed at regular intervals. You will be advised on your prescription re-order form that you need to make a telephone appointment before you can order any more. If your review becomes overdue there may be a delay in issuing your medication although we will never withhold it.
Early Requests
We are sometimes able to issue prescriptions early; for example, if you are going on holiday. You must indicate the reason for the early request. Failure to do so will result in the prescription not being issued. You will need to re-request it at the appropriate time.
Prescriptions Issued At Hospitals
Any hospital prescription must be dispensed by a hospital pharmacy. Our GPs do not dispense these onto a GP prescription.
Private/NHS Prescription Conversion
The first prescription issued by a private consultant will not be converted to an NHS prescription.
If you request your GP to issue a subsequent medicine, as recommended by your private consultant, on an NHS prescription that is not within local prescribing guidelines or is not one of the formulary drug choices, your GP may prescribe a suitable alternative.
THIS FORM BELOW IS CURRENTLY DISABLED - PLEASE USE
ONE OF THE ALTERNATIVE METHODS MENTIONED ABOVE TO REQUEST PRESCRIPTIONS.
